Pennock Center for Counseling is seeking referrals for our Senior Peer Counseling Program. This supportive outreach targets individuals age 55 and older, using volunteer peer counselors of this same age who can relate to the challenges that can exist for this population. Please forward this email to others who may be aware of seniors in need. As you know, the special challenges facing our seniors are great. The transitions, losses and physical problems for seniors can lead to depression, anxiety, loneliness and isolation. We know that caring, supportive relationships make all the difference.
Our volunteer peer counselors are matched with seniors with a counseling need and make a commitment to see their senior clients weekly. Seniors are seen in their homes, at our office, in their assisted living community or skilled nursing facility. Volunteer peer counselors have completed screening, training and participate in regular supervision time with other peer counselors and a mental health professional from Pennock Center for Counseling. Individuals having more serious mental health needs will be referred to professional staff at the center or other appropriate agencies.
If you know of someone who could benefit from this program, please share the enclosed brochure or refer them directly to Jody Pierce, LCSW. She can be reached at 303-655-9065, Ext. 9. All new referrals are thoroughly screened for appropriateness for this program. Please give us a call for additional information.
